Although I can find no hard documentation or vital record tying the Sarah Palmer who married Benjamn Lloyd to Joseph and Sarah (
née Gibbins) Palmer as parents, there seems to me to be ample contextual evidence to make this tie.
The Gibbons and the Lloyds had connections of friendship over a considerable period of time. John Gulson and his wife Mary
née Lloyd, daughter of Sampson I, are shown on the 1751 marriage certificate of Josiah Gibbons, brother of Sarah Gibbins.
2412 In 1755, the Warwickshire North Friends Monthly Meeting received a certificate about “Sarah Palmer, Widow now removed to Birmingham” from the Worcestershire Meeting.
2413 The 1777 marriage certificate of Thomas Lloyd and Mary Evans includes Joseph Gibbins (seemingly a nephew) in the list of those present.
336 Sarah Palmer’s 1781 death record notes that she was from Stourbridge.
2404The Friends records of Worcestershire include two relevant births with father Joseph Palmer, of Rebecca in 1739 and Joshua in 1740. Clearly, there was another son, Joseph, since there is a death record for him. For whatever reason, there is no birth record. There should be no surprise that the couple would have had a daughter named Sarah, after her mother, and that no birth record of her remains.
