The book Magna Carta Ancestry reports:
[COL.] GILES BRENT, Esq., born 1600, Roman Catholic, at Jamestown, Virginia 23 May 1625. He removed to Maryland in 1638 with this brother, Fulk, and sisters, Margaret and Mary. He received a grant of the manor of Kent Fort on Kent Island. He marries (1st) KITTAMAQUUND, daughter of the Tayac of the Piscattaway Indians. The had two sons, [Col.] Giles and Richard, and one daughter, Mary (wife of [Capt.] John Fitzherbert). He served as a member of the Provincial Council, 1638-44, and as a member of the Maryland Assembly, 1638/9, 1640/1, 1641/2, 1647/8. He served as acting Governor and Lieutenant-General of Maryland 1643-4. He maintained allegiance to King Charles. He was seized during Ingle’s Rebellion in 1645, and taken captive to London. In 1649 he removed to Aquia Creek, Stafford County, Virginia. He married (2nd) FRANCES WHITGREAVES, widow of [Dr.Jeremiah Harrison... They had no issue.
