I have found mention of Thomas in the tax lists of Nelson County from 1821 to 1839.2290 He most often appears to be living with his brother William. The Federal Census of 1830 names only heads of households, one of them being William Clayton.2291 There are two males in the household born 1790-1800, William being presumably one and Thomas, I suspect, the other.

There are no signs that Thomas apparently ever married. His last appearance is in the 1839 tax lists, so he probably died around that time. The 1848 Revolutionary War pension affadavit for for Joseph Clayton says that “Sally Clayton & Thomas Clayton, also Children of s’d. Joseph Clayton dec’d. died unmarried and without issue.”151
