The 1776 census of All Hallows Parish in Anne Arundel County, Maryland includes a Joshua Yeates.919
oshua and Ann Yates were received into the Bryan Station Church on North Elkhorn in February 1787.916
Joshua’s will was probated in Montgomery County, Kentucky in July-October 1831.920 Unfortunately the records there do not have a copy of the will itself. The probate records speak of eleven unspecified heirs, which matches the report of a deceased wife and eleven children.917 The enumeration of his personal property is meticulous and literal, including such items as “one lot of soap”, “six yds. of blue calico and remnant,” and two gallons of whiskey. Purchasers at the auction included William, Joshua and George Yates.
