He participated in Buckingham’s revolt against King Richard III in 1483, and, on its collapse, he and his brother, William, sought refuge in Brittany with Henry Tudor. He was attainted in 1484, and remained in exile at the royal court of Charles VIII in France until 1485, when he returned with Henry Tudor to England and helped him overthrow King Richard III, fighting at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
